How it works

The Backup Enterprise software is installed on a customer server per site (Backup Server). The Backup software stores the backed-up data locally to disk (local cache) and replicates it via an encrypted connection to distant datacenters. The datacenters are ISO 27001-certified and FINMA compliant. Local availability of the backups ensures short restore times, and it allows data retrieval even in the event of a connectivity outage.

Backup Enterprise uses an agentless backup technology to collect data from Windows, Unix, Linux, and Mac operating systems, as well as virtual, database or application servers and workstations. As soon as the data is collected by the Backup Server, it is de-duplicated, compressed, and encrypted prior to being transferred to the datacenters. Data de-duplication and compression minimizes the size of the Backup Server local cache, as well as the amount of data that is transferred to the datacenters.

A single administration interface allows you to centrally manage and monitor all your backup jobs. An interface is also provided for users so they can restore their own files if needed. The Arcplace Backup Software will automatically restore the data from the local cache if it is available. If not, it will restore from the datacenters. For large amounts of data, an Arcplace engineer can physically bring the data to the customer's site.

Backup Enterprise is a 100% tapeless solution for protecting your data. Because all backed up data is automatically transferred to highly secure datacenters, storing tapes in external safes is no longer required.

For maximum flexibility, the Arcplace Backup Enterprise solution allows the data to be stored in Arcplace datacenters (Public Cloud), customer datacenters (Private Cloud), or a mix of both (Hybrid Cloud). In each variant, the data at the datacenters is stored to disk and is automatically replicated for disaster recovery purposes.
